Private Wine Tours
Basic Info for our Private Wine Tour:
Private group tours are for guests who prefer to spend their day with just their friends/family and not to share a vehicle with other travelers. So if you are looking for a more personal and private experience, then the private tour is perfect for you!
With this style, we are able to make arrangements for groups of any size from 2 to 8 people. In fact, it is not uncommon for just one couple to book a tour for a special day or celebration, such as engagements, anniversaries or birthdays.
Private tours can accommodate your personal winery selections, or we’d be happy to make the selections for you. Since we visit the wine country every day, many of our guests prefer that we make all the arrangements for their perfect day.
Please note: We are not a “party bus,” and therefore do not accommodate bachelorette and bachelor parties or any other “partying” type groups.
Duration
The length of the tour will vary depending upon your specific needs. But typically we pick you up in time to arrive at the first winery by 11 AM and leave the last winery by 4:30 and then start your return trip.
*Pricing
Private wine tour pricing is determined by several factors, including your number of guests, your specific itinerary, the time of year and day of the week you choose. Minimum private tour fee is $350 (based on two people on a typical wine tour schedule, mid week during the slower season). To receive pricing for your particular private tour, please let us know your plans. We'll discuss the details with you and provide you a quote within 24 hours (but usually the same day).
What’s Included
Door to door service from most locations throughout Sonoma and Marin* counties and the city of San Francisco*. We also provide bottled water.
Where We Go / Wineries Visited
Sonoma County has thirteen wine regions (or appellations) and is home to over 250 wineries. We most frequently visit the wineries in the Dry Creek, Russian River, Alexander Valley, Sonoma Valley and the Carneros regions. However, on a private tour, the choice is up to you!
What to Expect
Your guide will accompany you into the wineries, introduce you to the staff (and maybe a wine maker or two), and will remain with you throughout the day to share their knowledge and answer questions. During the day you will learn about tasting wine, types of grape varietals, wine production, viticulture, and how to store, care for and serve wines. We usually spend some time in a vineyard, weather permitting. You will also have opportunities to purchase wines throughout the day.
Pick-ups
Door to door service! We pick up from most locations throughout Sonoma County, Marin County* and the city of San Francisco*. We believe that being the designated driver means just that. Most companies offer “pick-up at prearranged public locations with parking,” which means you have to drive at the end of the day. You shouldn’t have to worry about driving after a fun day of wine tasting. That is why our door to door service is your best option! (*Pick-ups/drop-offs outside Sonoma County are at slightly higher rates. Ask about your specific location.)
What’s Not Included
Guide’s gratuity (but always appreciated).
Meal/food.
Unlike our shared group tours, tasting fees are not included in our private wine tours. Many wineries charge $5-$20 each for tasting. If you prefer to try and reduce the amount of tasting fees you incur, let us know and we will do our best to help you select wineries that may not charge a fee for our guests, or will waive the fee with a purchase.
